The Discovery School at Mulberry Orchard

This mom and daughter duo is the mastermind behind the Discovery School's nature centered curriculum.  Laura Shelton has a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and a master's degree in Elementary Education. Ms. Laura loves anything outdoors and has a deep love for science and math. 

Carrie Hall has a bachelor's degree in business communication and rounds out the duo with her love for art and history.  Together they are a well balanced team who can teach just about anything through nature.

Together, Ms. Laura and Ms. Carrie opened The Discovery Gym in July 2012.  The original business combined daytime preschool with evening gymnastics classes.  The preschool became so popular that happy customers asked that the school to begin adding grades as their children aged out of the program.  First kindergarten was added then each year as those students moved to the next grade another grade was added under them until the school grew to have preschool through 8th grade.



The decision to close our doors two years ago was a difficult one.  With the hiring market almost nonexistent, Ms. Carrie and Ms. Laura finally decided they needed to shut down the current  model, regroup, and reinvent The Discovery School.

Their longtime friendship with Amanda Gajdzik, owner of Mulberry Orchard, then blossomed into a new idea!  The Discovery School at Mulberry Orchard!
